Parades of the Past

From the earliest accounts the residents of the our town have celebrated our nation's independence through parade. This year, we are looking back on the past parades.

Listen in on Facebook, July 4th at 4pm as Wayne Berry, Festival Board Member and Chair of the Parade Committee who has directed the parade from the corner of N. Atlantic Avenue/S. Moore Streets for more than 45 years and Bob Surridge, President of the Southport Historical Society share historical accounts of previous parades.

There are some great photos in this presentation. Some of them were provided by the Southport-NC Historical Society, some by residents and others have been provided to us by local photographers like Zeb Starnes, Ted Banasik, Cathy StGeorge Johnstone, and John Muuss.
