Festival Flag Raising

For the past few years, The N.C. 4th of July Festival Flag Raising Ceremony has been organized by our friends at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historical Site. This partnership has enabled us to merge history and tradition, creating a unique Flag Raising Ceremony where drum and fife meet the Knights of Columbus. The procession from the N.C Martime Museum @ Southport on Moore Street is lead by a colonial band and citizens dressed in period costumes, followed by area public officials to the center of the intersection of E. Moore/N. Howe Streets. The Knights of Columbus hoist the colors on temporary flagpole. The flag is donated by U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre and has been flown over our Nation’s Capitol.
The 2012 N.C. 4th of July Festival Flag Raising Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 4th at 10:30am at the corner of Howe & Moore Streets.
