Location: Intersection of Moore & Howe Streets
The N.C. 4th of July Festival Flag Raising Ceremony is organized by our friends at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site. This partnership has enabled us to merge history and tradition, creating a unique Flag Raising Ceremony where drum and fife meet the Knights of Columbus.
The procession begins at the N.C Maritime Museum @ Southport, 204 E. Moore Street and is lead by a colonial band and citizens dressed in period costumes, followed by area public officials to the intersection of Howe/Moore Streets. The Knights of Columbus hoist the colors, a flag that has been flown over our Nation’s Capitol.
When in the area, we encourage you to visit Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site, 8884 St. Philip's Road, Winnabow, just minutes from Southport. Or plan another trip around one of their special events. Well worth the trip.
Sponsored by Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce.
